Another set back, Feb. 29 event cancelled, but such is life
So, the state only verified 21 out of the 26 signatures we--my wife and I--obtained. So, it's back to the grind. We are working on getting another 10-15 signatures, so this way we know that at least 4 will be verified. Instead of waiting for the USPS to get it to them, we are going to deliver it to them ourselves. Hopefully, this will speed up the process and will get myself officially on the ballot. With this, the event originally scheduled on February 29, 2020 at the Elks Lodge in Waverly, TN has been cancelled. It is not only due to the signatures, but the gentleman, Andy James, who does the reservations, decided he was never going to get back to us about it. Even if he had, we would have postponed, but at least we could've just rescheduled to a different date. Instead, we are going to seek a different venue for our first Campaign Conversation. This time, the first one will most likely be in Lawrenceburg, TN, while we explore more options in Waverly and McEwen. Lawrenceburg is a good place to start as well. Hopefully this will be around Saturday, March 14, 2020, which is during the weekend of my Spring Break at APSU. I will have the whole week to relax and prepare, as long as 4 signatures have been verified for by the Elections Coordinator Office. Britney McDaniel is working with myself and my wife (she's the Treasurer) on getting all this situated and handled as soon as possible. She is awesome. Very respectful and knowledgeable about what needs to happen and the best route to take. I don't know if everyone goes through her, but I'm glad I do. Anyways, just two more bumps in the road, but that's okay. Such is life and we are continuing along with our journey. Until next time, enjoy your weekend. Will give another update tomorrow on the progress of getting the signatures and bringing the paperwork to the Elections Coordinator. Have a great weekend.
